A. To print text from Digital Scriptorium:

Please see Using the Images: Copyright (subsection Citation Format) regarding citation of the manuscript's repository and of this site.

Whether you are interested in manuscript descriptions that originated as encoded prose (i.e. from the Huntington Library) or in descriptions that originated in the DS database (from all other DS participants), the method is the same.

  1. Bring the material of interest to view on your computer screen; note that in the case of materials originating in the database, you should open all levels of a description: Manuscript, Part, Text and, if desired, Images.
  2. Pull down the "File" menu from the toolbar across the top of the screen, and click on "Print."

B. To print images from Digital Scriptorium:

Please see Using the Images: Copyright for restrictions on downloading for personal or educational use only.
Please see About Digital Scriptorium: Contact Information for the person responsible for images at the various institutions.

For immediate aide-memoire level of printing:

  1. Bring the image of interest to view on your computer screen in "Small" size.
  2. Pull down the "File" menu from the toolbar across the top of the screen, and click on "Print."

For higher quality printing:

  1. Bring the image of interest to view on your computer screen in "Medium" or "Large" size.
  2. Download the image to your hard drive (see Downloading Instructions).
  3. Use an image manipulation program such as Adobe Photoshop to make desired or necessary changes to the image. For example, you may wish to crop the color bar from the image; you will need to resize the image so that it fits onto your paper (but be sure to check the box that will "constrain proportions"!). Printing with a high quality color printer and using photography-grade paper will give better results.
